EYOS is excited to be offering a unique book by cabin departure to Komodo in September 2024 onboard Lamima, a classic phinisi style sailing yacht. But what does “A Day in the Life” of expedition travel with EYOS onboard Lamima really look like?

 

Morning

In the morning, sail to South Rinca, one of the region’s best dive sites, to experience the overwhelming abundance of the underwater world. Komodo National Park’s plentiful coral reefs are considered some of the best in all of Indonesia. Swim with nudibranch, turtles, sea snakes and frogfish among some of the most colorful corals in the Pacific.  Dolphins and manta rays are common sightings, and the area is also on a whale migration route. 

Onboard Lamima you might also take advantage of the spa amenities for a traditional Balinese massage from the two experienced local masseuses. Or take time to relax on deck and appreciate the design of the yacht, which was inspired by a traditional 1912 Indonesian phinisi build.

Afternoon

After lunch, continue the journey as Lamima sails to Komodo Island and drops anchor in front of a beautiful white sandy beach, sheltered on the eastern side of the Komodo National Park. Tender to shore to explore the grassy sloped hillsides that offer visitors gentle trekking trails, beautiful beaches for relaxing,, and the opportunity to see the famous Komodo dragons, the largest living lizards on the planet, weighing up to 300 pounds. 

Alternatively, opt to take advantage of the calm, protected waters and Lamima’s suite of watersport tools. Spend the afternoon wakeboarding behind Lamima’s 10 meter RIB tender or jet ski over the sapphire surface of the tropical waters. 

 

 

Evening

After an afternoon of watersports, enjoy a sunset hike to an iconic view of the three bays of Padar Island for photo ops of the dramatic landscape during golden hour before returning to Lamima to enjoy a world class dinner. The team of Indonesian gourmet chefs source the freshest ingredients from high-quality Indonesian suppliers, local markets, and fishermen.
