NansenExplorer

EYOS, the world leader in private superyacht experiences, in partnership with Nansen Polar Expeditions, announces new departures to Antarctica and the Arctic in 2022 where travelers will be able to book an individual cabin or fully charter the yacht.

Combining their collective expertise, the two brands will introduce a new expedition yacht experience to the polar regions aboard the newly refitted seven-cabin MV Nansen Explorer. Drawing on EYOS’ decade of experience operating private yacht expeditions to the polar regions, the scheduled departures and charters will take travelers to destinations far removed where most superyachts are sailing.

Following a multimillion-dollar refit in Spring 2021, MV Nansen Explorer now accommodates only 12 passengers in seven spacious staterooms and suites. Originally designed as an Arctic research vessel, MV Nansen Explorer is an industry first, bridging the gap between a super yacht and an expedition vessel. With an Ice-1A class hull, the ship can venture deeper into the ice pack, sailing to parts of the polar regions where other yachts rarely reach, including south of the Antarctic Circle. Passengers will also have access to kayaks, standup paddleboards, diving equipment, and two zodiacs to explore the remote wilderness up close.

With rugged exteriors equipped to sail through the polar regions, the modern, Scandinavian-inspired cabins are elegantly appointed with natural materials. Most cabins also feature sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea. There is a fully equipped gym and a dining room where a rotating menu of Michelin-star level cuisine is served courtesy of the onboard culinary team.

Individual cabins may be booked for the following departures:

  • Antarctica: February 1-12, 2022, departing from and returning to Ushuaia, starting at €27,500 per person. The photography-themed expedition is designed to be longer than most other Peninsula sailings, giving ample opportunity to reach both the Weddell Sea in the north, and weather permitting, Marguerite Bay, south of the Antarctic Circle and seldomly reached by ships. Renowned polar photographers, Daisy Gilardini, awarded in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and Ambassador for Greenpeace; and Audun Lie Dahl, winner of European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, will be onboard to share tips with guests to capture the perfect shots in the field.
  • Greenland: April 24-May 1, 2022, departing from and returning to Kangerlussuaq, €20,000 per person. The heli-ski themed expedition will travel to the island of Maniitsoq. With its peaks rising sharply from the Arctic Ocean, it’s considered one of the most remote places to heli-ski. Days will be filled with deep powder runs – some stretching more than a mile – on the narrow fjords down to the water’s edge. The MV Nansen Explorer is equipped with an expansive heli-deck allowing for easy inland exploration.
  • Greenland: June 19-26, 2022, departing from and returning to Kangerlussuaq, starting at €15,000 per person. The itinerary will explore the northern coast, traveling 150 miles beyond the Arctic Circle to Disko Bay. The UNESCO World Heritage site is home to some of the largest icebergs in the world – with some reaching up to 300 feet.

*Rates based on double occupancy.

Private charters

The yacht can be booked for private charters in Antarctica from December 2021 through March 2022 before sailing north to spend April and May in Greenland for heli-skiing experiences. The vessel will be available for West Greenland departures in June and July 2022. In August, she will be available to charter from Greenland to the Canadian Arctic and to the entrance to the Northwest Passage, before returning to Antarctica again in October 2022. Differing from the industry standard, MV Nansen Explorer utilizes an all-inclusive pricing starting at €295,000 per week.
