Olivia de Varreux

Field Staff Manager

Olivia de Varreux’s love of travel began at a young age; while born in France, her childhood was spent living in a variety of locations, including Ireland, South of France and St Lucia, West Indies. Upon returning to France, she began working in the hospitality industry and soon began a career at sea.

Expedition Experience

After helping launch the newly built Queen Mary 2, Olivia moved to the largest privately owned vessel, the residential ship The World. There, she first worked with the EYOS team on the ship’s many expeditions.

Whilst circumnavigating the globe during the next five years, she participated on expeditions including Madagascar, AlaskaAntarcticaSouth Georgia, the Arctic, and the Bering Sea. There, she learned about the complex operations that go into the planning and running of an expedition and developed a real passion for wild and remote locales.

Olivia was subsequently approached by a yacht Captain and entered the yachting industry. She then spent six years working as a Purser on some of the most prestigious yachts in the world, including Octopus, the largest explorer yacht in the world.
